The clip opens in the Mercedes garage with a woman wiping her eyes, a small boy on her hip, as a team member in black wraps her in a hug. “Thank you, Toto,” she says, according to the subtitles. Moments later the instructions come through: “You have to go to the podium.”

The 31 second reel was posted by the official Mercedes Formula 1 team account, @mercedesamgf1, on September 13, 2026, tagged in Madrid, Spain. Its caption is a single line: “A wholesome visit to the podium today for Lamby and his family.” Text across the top of the opening shots reads “Husband and Wife Podium.”

The next shot finds the man the caption calls Lamby, glasses on and a team lanyard around his neck, shaking hands and saying “Thank you very” before the subtitle cuts off. Team principal Toto Wolff steps in beside him and points him toward his family: “Your wife and son are just in the pitlane over there.” Lamby’s answer is the most practical line in the video: “Where do I go?”

Wolff then explains the moment to the camera, standing in front of the garage’s stacked tyre racks. “So Lamby is one of our best, most trusted engineers,” he says. “The best personality you can imagine.” Then comes the detail that turns a nice gesture into a story. Wolff says a wife had already been on the podium for HPP, “and I forgot that he wasn’t.” The reel ends as he starts the next sentence, “So he’s going.”

In between, the reel cuts to the podium itself. Lamby stands at the rail high above the crowd, grinning, one fist punched in the air, a large Moët bottle in his other hand. He sprays it out over the edge, then lifts the bottle over his head and pours it on himself.

Who HPP Is and Why the Podium Mattered

HPP, the place Wolff names in connection with an earlier podium, is Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains. According to the Mercedes team’s own page on its Brixworth site, HPP is the engine arm of the team, employs more than 700 people, and designs, builds and tests the hybrid Formula 1 power units used by the Mercedes works team and by its customer teams Williams, Aston Martin and McLaren. The team says Brixworth has been responsible for every Formula 1 engine carrying the Mercedes badge since 1995 and also develops powertrains for high performance hybrid road cars.

That ties the on screen “Husband and Wife Podium” text to HPP: by Wolff’s account the podium had already been visited for the engine side, and Lamby, an engineer at the race team, had not been up.

The Madrid Race Behind the Moment

The location tag places this at the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid. According to the circuit’s own announcement, that race ran September 11 to 13, 2026, at the new Madring circuit at Avenida del Partenón 5 in Madrid. The organizers list the track at 5.4 km with 22 corners and room for about 45,000 fans. Its signature corner, La Monumental, is about half a kilometre long with 24 percent banking, and drivers spend roughly six seconds turning through it. The organizers say it is named after the city’s Las Ventas bullring.

If You Are Planning a Trip to Madring

For fans who watched the Madrid podium and want to see a race at this circuit, the organizer’s own details are the place to start:

  • Check dates on the circuit’s site first. The 2026 race weekend ran Friday to Sunday, September 11 to 13, and the Sunday is when the podium happens.
  • Use the official address, Avenida del Partenón 5, 28042 Madrid, when planning transport, rather than a general “Madrid circuit” search.
  • With capacity listed at about 45,000, book tickets through the official channel early rather than relying on resale.
  • If you want to see the cars at their most dramatic, ask where the grandstands sit relative to La Monumental, the long banked corner the organizers highlight.
