Porsche has officially unveiled its 2026 Cayenne Electric, and the German automaker isn’t holding back. The all-electric SUV delivers up to 1,156 horsepower in the Cayenne Turbo Electric model, making it the most powerful production Porsche ever built. The reveal comes after months of testing that saw camouflaged prototypes tackling everything from frozen Scandinavian lakes to scorching desert heat in Dubai.

The electric Cayenne isn’t just about raw power. Porsche has packed the SUV with Formula E-derived technology that includes up to 600 kW of recuperation power and charging capabilities that can add over 300 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes. The interior gets a complete redesign featuring the largest display ever seen in a Porsche, along with an AI-powered voice assistant and wireless charging technology.

Development models have already proven themselves at legendary venues like Shelsley Walsh, where a prototype set a new SUV record in July 2025. The Cayenne Electric brings more than 600 kilometers of WLTP range and marks a significant step in Porsche’s electrification strategy as the brand’s second all-electric SUV alongside the existing electric models.

Everything You Need to Know About the Electric Cayenne

The 2026 Porsche Cayenne Electric arrives with three distinct variants offering power outputs ranging from 402 hp to a staggering 1,139 hp, while featuring innovations pulled directly from Formula E racing technology. The lineup starts at $111,350 and climbs to $165,350 for the range-topping Turbo model.

Model Lineup: Electric Cayenne, Cayenne S Electric, and Cayenne Turbo Electric

Porsche is rolling out three versions of its electric SUV to cover different performance needs and budgets. The base Cayenne Electric serves as the entry point at $111,350, delivering solid performance for everyday driving.

The Cayenne S Electric steps things up in the middle of the range. This model bridges the gap between practical daily use and serious performance capabilities.

The Cayenne Turbo Electric sits at the top of the hierarchy at $165,350. It’s now the most powerful production Porsche ever made, eclipsing even the brand’s legendary two-seat sports cars.

All three models come standard with all-wheel drive. The electric platform allows Porsche to distribute power precisely between the front and rear axles for optimal traction and handling.

Performance and Power: From 402 hp to 1,139 hp

The base Cayenne Electric produces 402 hp in normal driving mode. Activate launch control, and that figure jumps to 435 hp for maximum acceleration off the line.

The Cayenne S Electric pushes output considerably higher with 516 hp available during regular driving. When drivers engage launch control, the system unleashes 612 hp for explosive starts.

The Cayenne Turbo Electric delivers 844 hp in standard operation. But that’s not where the story ends. With both launch control and the push-to-pass function activated simultaneously, the Turbo Electric generates a mind-bending 1,139 hp.

Porsche employs direct oil cooling for the electric motors to maintain consistent performance during hard driving. This technology helps prevent power loss from overheating, even during repeated acceleration runs or track sessions.

Cutting-Edge Features and Technologies

The Cayenne Electric benefits directly from Porsche’s Formula E racing program. Engineers transferred energy management software and recuperation systems from the championship-winning 99X Electric race car to this production SUV.

The recuperation system can recover up to 600 kW of power during braking, matching the peak figures of Porsche’s Formula E racer. This capability helps extend range while also improving the driving experience through one-pedal operation.

An 800-volt electrical architecture enables charging speeds up to 390 kW. At a suitable high-speed charging station, drivers can add 323 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes. The total range exceeds 600 kilometers according to WLTP testing standards.

Porsche is introducing wireless charging for the Cayenne Electric in 2026. The 11 kW inductive system uses a floor plate installed in the parking area, automatically aligning the vehicle and initiating charging without any cables or plugs to handle.

Next-Gen Innovation: Technology, Charging, and Driving Experience

The Cayenne Electric brings motorsport-derived technology to the street with 800-volt architecture, charging speeds that reach up to 400 kW under specific conditions, and an interior packed with the largest display area ever fitted to a Porsche.

Formula E Inspiration and 800-Volt Architecture

The Cayenne Electric achieves Formula E-level performance with regenerative braking that delivers up to 600 kW of recuperative power. That means about 97 percent of everyday braking happens purely through the electric motors, rarely requiring the mechanical friction brakes to engage.

The 800-volt architecture enables the SUV to handle massive charging speeds while maintaining efficiency. This same electrical foundation powers both the base Cayenne Electric and the Turbo variant, with the latter featuring direct oil cooling on its rear motor—an innovation pulled straight from motorsport. The cooling system ensures the Turbo can maintain high continuous output without overheating during extended performance driving.

Ultra-Fast Charging, Range, and Battery Engineering

The 113 kWh battery charges from 10 to 80 percent in less than 16 minutes at DC fast-charging stations. Under optimal conditions with a charging station supplying over 390 kW at more than 850 volts and 520 amps, the system can even hit 400 kW of charging power.

In just 10 minutes, drivers can add 325 km of range to the base model or 315 km to the Turbo variant. The battery benefits from double-sided cooling for optimal thermal management across varying conditions.

WLTP Range:

  • Cayenne Electric: up to 642 km
  • Cayenne Turbo Electric: up to 623 km

The first Porsche with optional inductive charging charges wirelessly at up to 11 kW when parked over a floor plate, with the process starting automatically.

Interior, Comfort, and Suspensions

The Porsche Driver Experience centers on the Flow Display, an elegantly curved OLED panel that creates the largest display area in any Porsche. A 14.25-inch digital instrument cluster and optional 14.9-inch passenger display complete the setup, while a head-up display with AR technology projects an 87-inch display area 10 meters ahead.

Adaptive air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management comes standard on both models. The Turbo gets Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus and can be equipped with Active Ride suspension, which nearly eliminates body movements for exceptional stability and comfort.

New Mood Modes adjust seating position, lighting, air conditioning, sound, and display appearance based on driver preference. Panel heating warms not just the seats but armrests and door panels too. The sliding panoramic roof uses electrically switchable liquid crystal foil for variable light control.
