Porsche’s hottest version of the Cayenne just showed up in spy photos with almost nothing left to hide. The Cayenne Turbo GT Weissach package prototype was caught testing with its front end essentially exposed — revised air intakes fully visible, with only a thin film over the headlights and light masking at the rear bumper — according to spy shots published by Zero2Turbo.

Barely a Wrap Left on It

That level of exposure is unusual this early in a test cycle, and it suggests Porsche’s range-topping combustion Cayenne is closer to production sign-off than the camouflage would normally imply. The current Cayenne Turbo GT, for reference, already produces 650 horsepower (485 kW) from its twin-turbo V8, hits 62 mph in 3.3 seconds and tops out at 305 km/h (190 mph), per Zero2Turbo’s reporting. Exact output for the updated Weissach prototype hasn’t been confirmed, but Porsche has indicated the gas-powered Cayenne lineup will keep evolving alongside the brand’s newer electric Cayenne models rather than being replaced by them.

Not to Be Confused With the Electric Cayenne

The V8 Weissach prototype is a separate program from Porsche’s upcoming electric Cayenne Coupe, which is also being tested under the Turbo GT name. That EV prototype has already set a benchmark of its own, running a hill-climb course in 31.28 seconds to beat the previous SUV record by more than four seconds, according to The Drive, which reported the electric prototype was photographed separately at the Nürburgring wearing heavier camouflage than the gas-powered Weissach car. Porsche has not said how it plans to differentiate the two Turbo GT nameplates once both reach showrooms.

Nürburgring Mules Point to Real Hardware Changes

Separate prototypes photographed at the Nürburgring back up the idea that this isn’t just a cosmetic refresh. Those test mules wore a modified front bumper with additional flaps cut into the air intakes and a new front lip, plus a revised rear spoiler with a taller lip, and rode on carbon brakes, according to autoevolution. The outlet’s figures for the current Turbo GT put torque at 626 lb-ft and curb weight around 5,055 pounds, and note the car is built as a coupe-only model sold exclusively in the United States, where it currently starts at $210,600.

Facelift or Full Redesign?

It remains unclear just how deep the changes run. The current Cayenne generation already received a substantial mid-cycle update for the 2024 model year, which makes another major visual overhaul this soon somewhat unusual, Zero2Turbo notes. Porsche has not said whether the Weissach prototype represents a true next-generation Cayenne Turbo GT or a shorter-cycle refresh of the existing car. With prototypes already shedding most of their camouflage, an early 2027 debut looks like the most likely landing spot for the finished version.
