Kawasaki has issued an emergency stop-sale and a federal recall for about 840 W230 ABS motorcycles after inspectors found the bikes’ turn signal bulbs can crack or contain foreign material that stops them from lighting up. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened the recall as Campaign 26V387, with Kawasaki tracking it internally as Campaign 26-17 MC.

What Inspectors Found

The recall covers model year 2025 and 2026 W230 ABS motorcycles built between October 2, 2024, and October 28, 2025. Kawasaki traced the defect to bulbs supplied by Fiem Industries of Sonipat, India, which may have been manufactured with foreign material inside the bulb or with cracks in the glass, Motorcycle.com reported. Either defect can damage the bulb’s filament and prevent the front or rear turn signals from illuminating properly when a rider activates them.

Why That Matters on the Road

A turn signal that fails to light, whether it goes dim, flickers, or goes dark entirely, removes a rider’s only way of signaling a lane change or turn to surrounding traffic. On a retro-styled motorcycle with none of the visual bulk of a car or truck, that loss of visibility raises the odds a following or crossing driver never sees the intended move, increasing the risk of a collision, according to RideApart’s reporting on the recall.

The Stop-Sale Came First

Kawasaki notified U.S. dealers of the stop-sale on June 12, 2026, halting sales of affected W230 ABS inventory still on showroom floors while the recall was finalized. As of the most recent reporting, Kawasaki had not yet published a repair procedure or begun notifying registered owners, saying only that it was still developing the fix and would mail notification letters once one exists.

Roughly 840 motorcycles are affected nationwide, a small slice of Kawasaki’s W230 production run, but every owner of a 2025 or 2026 W230 ABS built in that production window should treat both turn signals as suspect until Kawasaki confirms a fix.
