The banner over the whole clip sets it up in one line: “Customer does his first test drive of a C7 Z06 and gets rowdy in front of the salesman upon the drive!” Below it, the camera sits low in the cabin of a C7 Corvette Z06, aimed at the carbon trimmed steering wheel with its Z06 badge and the crossed flags logo, as a driver with a green wristband works the wheel on a sunny multilane highway.

The reel was posted on Instagram by the fan page @corvetteclub_ as a collaboration with the account @ahmersaeedd, with the caption, “He definitely had the salesman sweating for his life from this first test drive!” The post does not name the driver or the salesman.

Most of the video stays inside the car. The opening shots pass under a broad concrete overpass, the digital gauge cluster glowing behind the wheel, and early in the clip the camera swings right to the passenger seat, where the salesman sits looking down toward the center console.

What the Frames Show

The rest is the driver and the road. His hand, marked by the green wristband, moves between the wheel and the center console. Outside, the shots show an on ramp with a yield sign, open highway lanes, highway signs and a bright sky. In several frames the gauge cluster is lit with large digital numbers, though they are not sharp enough in the video to read a speed off them.

The final frames close in on the steering wheel hub, with the Z06 badge on the carbon spoke and the driver’s green wristband in view. The clip never cuts back to the salesman, so how the test drive ended is not in this video.

How to Test Drive a High Performance Car Without Being That Customer

Agree on the route before the key turns. Ask the salesperson where they want you to drive and how long you have. For a used car, the Federal Trade Commission’s guide to buying a used car advises testing it “under varied road conditions,” on hills, highways and in stop and go traffic, which tells you far more about a car than one hard pull.

Drive it like you will own it. A test drive is for checking how the car shifts, brakes, steers and sounds at normal speeds, with the salesperson beside you the whole way.

Get the inspection on paper. The FTC says it is best to have a used car inspected by an independent mechanic before you buy, to ask for a written report with repair estimates and the vehicle’s VIN, and that if a dealer will not allow an independent inspection you “might want to consider doing business elsewhere.”

Read the Buyers Guide on the window. Under the FTC’s Used Car Rule, dealers must post a Buyers Guide on every used car they offer, and it becomes part of the sales contract. If the “As Is, No Dealer Warranty” box is checked, the FTC says the dealer offers no warranty, and any promised repairs should be written on the Guide, because spoken promises are hard to enforce.
